Selah Professional Counselors was founded to fill the need for therapy that supports the faith of Catholic clients. We provide counseling to people of all faiths but have a particular desire to help Catholic clients who are looking for faith-based counseling. We believe that true healing includes the mind, body, AND soul and that life is an intricate combination of these three areas. We will meet you where you are at in your faith journey and help you take the steps needed to make lasting change in your life.

Selah is an Hebrew word that often is translated to mean “Pause and Reflect”. This is what we do. We will take the time to pause with you, reflect on what is difficult or not going well, and help you move towards growth and healing.

Our Services

  • Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, or another mood disorder? Is it difficult to focus or make healthy choices? Are you in the midst of a life transition and struggling to cope? Do you find yourself unhappy in your relationships; perhaps needing better boundaries or communication styles? Have you experienced a loss and need support?

Awareness is the first step to change and we will partner with you as we explore what is causing difficulty in your life. We believe in using your strengths to make change and we will consider all areas of your life: physical, spiritual, emotional, social, etc. in the healing process.

*We provide individual and marriage (limited availability) counseling.

  • Are you struggling in your marriage? Perhaps there has been infidelity, difficulties with communication, lost trust, years of hurt, or differences of values? Have you and your spouse gone through something very challenging that now impacts your relationship? Are you currently separated or unsure if the marriage can continue? Or maybe you are engaged and want support in preparing for marriage.

We currently have 2 therapists trained in different modalities who practice from a Catholic perspective. We want to help you to have the best relationship you can have. We will help you and your spouse make the necessary changes to make that happen.

  • Are you a parent looking to help your teenager? Is your teen struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or another diagnosis? Has your teen been withdrawing from friends and family? Are you noticing grades dropping, behavior changes, or negative emotions? Perhaps you see your teenager struggling and you are unsure what is going on.

We will help your teenager learn to identify their emotions, figure out what is causing them, and find healthy ways to cope. We will teach skills to help them address what they are experiencing. We prioritize their privacy, understanding that they often need a space that they feel comfortable to share in, but also value involving you as their parent when appropriate.

  • Are you looking for help for your child? Was therapy recommended by your child’s doctor, school, etc.? Are you concerned about specific behaviors or emotions your child is displaying and feel uncertain about how to respond? Has your child gone through a difficult experience, and you want to give them somewhere to talk about it?

We utilize a variety of approaches to help your child understand their thoughts and feelings and adjust their behaviors. Depending on the child’s age, we may use art or play in our sessions. It is important that both the child and parent feel comfortable with the therapist. We want to collaborate with you (the parent) as we work with your son/daughter and will use your feedback combined with our expertise to help your child.
